Always Thankful!

I have so many things in my life to be thankful for and at Thanksgiving I like to send out Thanksgiving cards (as one more way) to let people know that I am thankful for them! It doesn't seem that very many people send out Thanksgiving cards though? How about you? Do you send out Thanksgiving cards? If not, here's a card that maybe will inspire you to send out a few cards this year to some of the special people in your life that you are thankful for!

I used the Always Thankful stamp set and the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Mini Catalog . I also used Soft Suede and More Mustard card stock as the base and first layer of the card.

I popped up the pumpkin on the ground and added a couple More Mustard brads to give the card more dimension! Gently Falling!

I LOVE 2-step stamping! If you've never tried it, this new set in the Holiday Mini Catalog called Gently Falling is a great set to try it with!! We made this card at my Stamp-A-Stack on Wednesday night and everyone loved the card and the technique!

This card also uses the Creating Pretty Cards card sketch over on Craft Project Central. Check out the monthly card challenge if you have a hard time designing your own cards from scratch as the sketch is provided for you as well as a mini tutorial that you can download for free! The mini tutorial gives you the measurements for each of the pieces as well as basic instructions for making the inspiration card! In addition, you get to see the beautiful creations made by some of our readers and so generously shared with all of us.

If you're not familiar with 2-step stamping, each leaf is made with two stamps. One is the outline and the other the filler. The way I did mine was to stamp the outline full strength, and then stamp the filler after having inked my stamped, and then stamped off (on my grid paper, taking off some of the ink), and then stamping directly over the outline stamp. This gives the leaf two different colors, although I'm using the same stamp pad, and gives the leaves dimension. Fun, fun, fun!

I also used the new Spice Cake Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Holiday Mini Catalog and card stock colors found in the DSP.

Living here in Hawaii, I miss the fall changing of the colors! So when we decide to focus on Thanksgiving cards this week over on my Sisters in Stamping blog, I decided I wanted to use these rich fall colors! Day of Gratitude!

11-10-09 Stamp-A-Stack!

Here are the cards that we made in my November 10th, Stamp-A-Stack. Everyone made 10 cards, two of each design. Enjoy!

This card uses the Medallion background stamp and the greeting is from the Upsy Daisy stamp set. I have a hard time thinking of masculine cards so this was my attempt at one!

This Thanksgiving card uses the Autumn Splendor and Falling Leaves stamp sets.

This card uses the Delightful Decorations stamp set (one of my favorites this year), and the Holiday Lounge Designer Series Paper.

This card uses the Wandering Words stamp set and again the Holiday Lounge Designer Series Paper.

This card uses the A Brand New Year stamp and Circle Circus stamp set.

Pacific Stampers Group Meeting and Swap 10-30-09

Our group meeting is usually the first Friday of every month, but this month we decided to move the meeting back a week and do it on the last Friday of the month, so we could have a little Halloween party/meeting. Dressing up was optional, but stamping, eating, drinking and having fun was mandatory!

Here are Naoko a.k.a. Pochahontas, Michelle a.k.a. Good-bye Kitty, and me.

We had tons of yummy food, including some tasty Halloween goodies.

Some special treats. This one was from Brenda. I love Look bars and promptly ate mine after taking this picture!

These two were from Lorinne. Sweet Treat Cup filled with M&Ms and a cute little spider!

This cute little treat was made by Michelle filled with Halloween candies!

And this cute treat bag was made my Shelby, filled again with Halloween goodies!

Thanks for the treats. Now I don't have to raid the kids bags this year!

We also had some great swaps! Our theme was Thanksgiving cards.

Joni Hirasa lead our project this month, and let everyone make a cute little jar from Ikea that was decorated with items that she taught us how to alter. For example, Joni taught us all how to die ribbon, flowers from the Pretties kit, and also the crocheted flowers from the Fleurettes ll kit. I didn't get a chance to make mine, so unfortunately I don't have a picture of this cute project, but I'll work on getting it done so you can see it! Thanks Joni for the wonderful project!
